The mission of the Bar Harbor Food Pantry is to supplement food and other household products to families and individuals within Bar Harbor and surrounding communities who are experiencing financial hardship. Our goal is to make the clients' experience as positive as possible.
The Bar Harbor Food Pantry has been serving under its name since 1996. Before that it had been run on an emergency basis only in the basement of the First Baptist Church. Today, with the support of local churches and other community members, we are able to help many families across Hancock County each month. The Pantry is run by representatives from its five supporting churches, an executive board, and a director of operations. It is sponsored by the First Baptist Church and joined with help by Holy Redeemer, Church of Our Father, St. Saviour's, and the Congregational Church.
